The Pittsburgh Steelers are back at work preparing for their Sunday road playoff game against the Denver Broncos and their first injury report of the week that was released on Wednesday shows that five players missed practice with injuries.
Not practicing Wednesday were quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder), running back DeAngelo Williams (foot), wide receiver Antonio Brown (concussion), defensive end Cameron Heyward (back) and linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee).
Williams is not expected to play Sunday against the Broncos while Brown and Roethlisberger can both likely be characterized as questionable right now. Roethlisberger confircmed after practice that he didn’t do anything on Wednesday and that includes throwing. That means backup quarterback Landry Jones got a lot of work in with the first-team offense.
Despite Brown still likely being in concussion protocol, several members of the local media believe he will play Sunday against the Broncos. Brown is recovering from a hit to the head Saturday night by Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict.
Limited Wednesday were linebacker Vince Williams (hamstring), fullback Will Johnson (hamstring) and safety Robert Golden (shoulder) as all suffered minor injuries against the Bengals.
Linebacker James Harrison (not injury related) was given Wednesday off as a maintenance day.
