Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker coach Joey Porter will reportedly be fined for coming on to field Saturday night in the AFC Wild Card game and engaging Cincinnati Bengals players, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Porter came on to the field late in the fourth quarter to presumably check on wide receiver Antonio Brown after he took a vicious shot to the head from Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict. While on the field, Bengals defensive lineman Wallace Gilberry purposefully bumped Porter from behind while cornerback Adam Jones lunged at Porter immediately after that as the Steelers coach was smiling and backing away from a group of players.
Jones’ action resulted in a personal foul penalty of 15 yards and after that was tacked on to the 15 yard penalty that was called on Burfict for his illegal hit on Brown, the Steelers were easily well within field goal range.
Burfict is reportedly facing suspension for his hit on Brown, according to Schefter. It also won’t be surprising if Gilberry and Jones are fined for their actions in the game as well.
