Despite suffering a shoulder injury in Saturday night’s Wild Card game win over the Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Robert Golden expects to play Sunday in the Divisional Round game against the Denver Broncos.
According to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Golden had his injured arm in a sling on Sunday as a result of a shoulder sprain that he suffered Saturday night against the Bengals. Head coach Mike Tomlin included Golden in his post-game injury report.
Golden is not only the third safety on the team, he’s also a core special teams player and the captain of that unit. Despite his injury, Golden still played 12 defensive snaps Saturday night in addition to 22 snaps on special teams. He ended the game with no tackles and one pass defensed.
Behind Golden on the Steelers depth chart are Shamarko Thomas and Ross Ventrone.
