The Cleveland Browns have reportedly decided on who their new head coach will be and it’s Hue Jackson, who was previously the Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator.
Jackson has long been regarded as possible head coach candidate after last holding that same title in 2011 with the Oakland Raiders. Jackson, who has been on the Bengals coaching staff since 2012, inherits a Browns team with an offense that lacks several key players and most notably at the quarterback and wide receiver spots.
It will be interesting to see if Jackson is willing to move forward with troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel and even more troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon. The Browns have failed miserably with several of their top draft picks in recent years so it will be interesting to see which direction they go in this year with Jackson as their head coach. The Browns currently own the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft and will likely use it on a quarterback.
Additionally, it will be interesting to see who Jackson hires to run the Browns defense as there’s a good chance he’ll be calling all of the shots on offense.
The Browns last winning season was in 2007 when they went 10-6. Jackson now takes over for Mike Pettine, who was fired by the Browns immediately after the 2015 season ended.
