If the New England Patriots want to win another Super Bowl championship this season they’ll have to do it without running back LeGarrette Blount.
Blount, who has gained 703 yards and 6 touchdowns on 165 rushes this season, will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list by the Patriots on Wednesday with a hip injury. Blount suffered that injury during the Sunday night game against the Houston Texans.
Blount, who started the 2014 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers after signing a two-year contract earlier that offseason, was ultimately waived after 11 games after he walked off the field disgruntled prior to the game against the Tennessee Titans ended. After clearing waivers, Blount signed back with the Patriots and he went on to win a Super Bowl with them.
The Patriots have been unlucky at the running back position this season as Blount now makes the second player at that position that has been lost for year due to injury. Several weeks ago, running back Dion Lewis was placed on Reserve/Injured with a knee injury.
With Blount now out for the season, the Patriots will turn to running back Brandon Bolden as their starter. Bolden has rushed for 110 yards on 35 carries so far this season.
