The 4-4 Pittsburgh Steelers will host the 4-3 Oakland Raiders Sunday at Heinz Field and as he always does during his weekly press Tuesday press conference, head coach Mike Tomlin gave a preliminary injury report of his team just a short time ago.
According to Tomlin, defensive end Stephon Tuitt (knee) and safety Will Allen (ankle) are expected to practice in some capacity this week and the hope is that both will be able to play Sunday. Tuitt has missed the Steelers last two games with knee sprain while Allen hasn’t played since Week 5 because of a right ankle injury.
Safety Mike Mitchell (concussion) is going through the league-mandated concussion protocol right now after being knocked out of Sundays game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Quarterback Mike Vick (hamstring) might return to practice this week as well. Tomlin, however, wouldn’t commit to him being the No. 2 quarterback as everything will depend on how he performs this week in practice.
As for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (knee) he had no setbacks in his first game back in Sunday’s loss to the Bengals.
Tomlin did say that linebacker Terence Garvin (knee) will remain out this week with his MCL injury that suffered in practice a few weeks ago.
Tomlin also let be known that the team is still unsure about when running back Le’Veon Bell will have surgery on the right knee that he injured on Sunday. Bell was placed on the team’s Reserve/Injured list on Monday.
