The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals 25-13 vSunday afternoon at Heinz Field but they lost their starting left tackle for the season in the process.
Following the game, head coach Mike Tomlin told the media during his press conference that Beachum suffered a torn left ACL in the first half of Sunday’s game and that he would indeed be lost for the season as a result.
It’s a big blow for Beachum, who is in the final year of his rookie contract. He will now be placed on the team’s Reserve/Injured list early next week.
With Beachum now lost for the season, Alejandro Villanueva will likely be the team’s starting left tackle moving forward. The former Army Ranger played well Sunday after Beachum left the game.
As far as other injuries go, Tomlin said that quarterback Mike Vick suffered a hamstring injury in the second half. Landry Jones replaced Vick in the game and he really played well.
Also injured on Sunday was defensive end Stephon Tuitt as he suffered a knee sprain in the second half, according to Tomlin.
The Steelers are now 4-2 and they’ll play the Kansas City Chiefs next week on the road.
