Boswell’s Tryout Served As Good Primer For Gameday Conditions

In perhaps a mild upset, Chris Boswell won the Pittsburgh Steelers’ kicking tryout over veterans Kai Forbath and Randy Bullock. According to the new kicker, Boswell didn’t have to just battle two other people Saturday. He had to battle the elements.

“It was pouring rain, windy, all the elements you want. I hear it gets pretty bad up here, so it was a good test,” he told Teresa Varley of Steelers.com.

Boswell won’t have to worry about Heinz Field until October 18th. He and the Steelers will travel out to San Diego on Monday in what will be his first career regular season appearance. But the prospect of debuting in primetime football doesn’t bother him.

“It doesn’t really matter who is watching. Whether it’s on your own or it’s on Monday Night Football, you want to take the same mental preparation going into every single kick. You don’t want to take any kicks off. It’s the same mental attitude every single kick.”

Boswell will wear #9 for the Steelers.
