In case you missed it over on our live blog. The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially signed former Carolina Panthers running back Jordan Todman and claimed Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Caushaud Lyons off waivers. The Steelers released rookies Doran Grant and Anthony Chickillo in corresponding moves.
Todman is entering his fifth year in the NFL. He rushed 32 times for 186 yards for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014, catching another 25 passes out of the backfield. He also served as the team’s primary kick returner.
Lyons was a UDFA out of Tusculum. He weighed in at 6’4/4 288 pounds at his Pro Day and ran a 4.86. The Steelers are now carrying seven defensive lineman on their roster, an unusually high amount.
Grant becomes the highest draft pick in the 2015 draft released and the first fourth rounder since Ryan McBean to fail to make the Steelers’ initial roster.
