The Pittsburgh Steelers waived linebacker Shawn Lemon from their Reserve PUP list just this past week and it appears as though he’ll soon be signing with the San Francisco 49ers, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.
OLB Shawn Lemon worked out for 49ers and will sign with the 49ers. He played in CFL and with SaberCats.

Lemon, who started off training camp on the Steelers Active PUP list with a strained Achilles tendon, was waived injured on July 29 and ultimately reverted back to the team’s Reserve PUP list after clearing waivers. On Monday, the Steelers reached an injury settlement with the former CFL linebacker.
The 49ers needed an extra body at the outside linebacker position now that they have released troubled veteran Aldon Smith following him being arrested early Friday morning.
Lemon will likely be a long-shot to make the 49ers roster this year, but it is good to see him get another shot nonetheless.
