Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Lance Moore finally has a new home as the veteran signed a one-year contract Tuesday with the Detroit Lions.
Moore, who originally entered the league in 2005 as an undrafted free agent out of Toledo with the Cleveland Browns, signed a two-year contract with the Steelers last offseason after spending the previous nine seasons with the New Orleans Saints.
Moore was released by the Steelers this past March after catching 14 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns in the 14 regular-season games that he played in. There were reports this past February that Moore had asked for his release.
“It didn’t go the way I’d hoped it would go but that’s life in the NFL sometimes,” Moore said after the Steelers were eliminated from the playoffs last season. “It’s unfortunate that it unfolded the way that it did but I enjoyed my time here this season.
“I just want to play so whether that’s here or somewhere else. I’d love to be here, I’d love to be a part of this offense but I think those are decisions that have to be made down the line.”
