As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers made it a point to meet with Florida running back Matt Jones prior to his Tuesday Pro Day as it’s now being reported that head coach Mike Tomlin and Kevin Colbert had dinner Monday night with the 6-foot-2, 235-pound running back, according to the National Football Post.
Last week it was reported that Jones had a meeting scheduled with the Steelers ahead of his Pro Day.
Jones, who is expected to be drafted sometime after the fourth round, improved on his combine 40-yard-dash time of 4.61 seconds Monday by running a time of 4.53 seconds. Jones also did 20 reps on the bench and posted a 31 1/2 inch vertical jump to go along with a 9-4 broad jump.
The Steelers seem primed to draft another running back this year after selecting Dri Archer last year in the third round and starter Le’Veon Bell in 2013 in addition to signing veteran DeAngelo Williams several weeks ago.
Jones is a powerful back who rushed for 817 yards and six touchdowns last season.
