There certainly isn’t much Pittsburgh Steelers news to post as we head into the weekend, but I thought I would pass along an encouraging word about the linebackers.
Judging by a photo posted Friday on Twitter by Steelers linebacker Vince Williams, it appears though he, Jarvis Jones, Sean Spence and Ryan Shazier are all out in Arizona training with James Harrison at Performance Enhancement Professionals.
Harrison, who is currently an unrestricted free agent, made it clear a few weeks ago that intends on playing in 2015. Now that it looks like the Tennessee Titans have their starters lined up for next season, one would think that he will be re-signed at some point during the offseason to start opposing Jones in 2015.
The Steelers currently have just two experienced outside linebackers under contract for the 2015 season thanks to Arthur Moats being re-signed over a week ago. Jason Worilds, who is currently an unrestricted free agent, has decided to retire, so Harrison, Jones and Moats would all figure to see time outside in 2015 while the younger outside linebackers on the roster are groomed.
It is unknown how long Williams Jones, Spence and Shazier will be out west training with Harrison, but it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if they stayed out there until the OTA sessions get underway.
