Details of the new deal will likely be released soon.
Roethlisberger was entering the final year of his contract.
Roethlisberger’s new extension should ensure that he finishes his career in Pittsburgh. Last season the former first-round draft pick threw for 4,952 yards and 32 touchdowns. He completed 67.1% of his passes and twice threw six touchdown passes in a game.
Roethlisberger turned 33 earlier this month. He’s already won two Super Bowl championships during his career and is a three-time Pro Bowler.
Steelers president Art Rooney II and Roethlisberger will be made available to the media at team headquarters at approximately 5 p.m. ET on Friday.
