While most of the Pittsburgh Steelers coaches were busy Tuesday watching the University of Pittsburgh Pro Day, Bryan Fischer of NFL.com reports that the team also had a few scouts at nearby Duquesne University to take in their Pro Day. That’s not too terribly surprising considering the location of the school.
Regardless, according to Fischer, Duquesne tight end Kyle Shuman was the big name on display Tuesday.
Shuman, who is listed on the Duquesne website at 6’5″, 245 pounds, evidently didn’t play last season so we can only assume that he had an injury of some sorts. In the nine games that he played in 2013, he’s listed as only having 11 catches for 89 yards.
Fischer also listed Duquesne guard Ezek Suivaaia as a player that scouts might have been present to observe. It appears as though he is undersized, however, as he is listed on the website at 6’3″, 289 pounds.
It doesn’t sound like either of these two players will be drafted, but Shuman could be a possible undrafted free agent candidate or one of several invited to tryout at the rookie minicamp.
