As expected, the Tennessee Titans named former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau as their Assistant Head Coach/Defense on Thursday.
LeBeau, who reportedly resigned his position with the Steelers a few weeks after the 2014 season ended, won’t be a stranger to several coaches on the Titans staff as head coach Ken Whisenhunt, defensive coordinator Ray Horton and tight ends coach Mike Mularkey all worked alongside the defensive mastermind in Pittsburgh.
LeBeau, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010, for his 14-year playing career as a cornerback for the Detroit Lions, coached a total of 16 seasons in Pittsburgh during two different stints.
Reports a few weeks ago indicated that LeBeau could’ve taken a similar job with the Arizona Cardinals, but he turned it down because it was too far away from where is family resides in Cincinnati.
