The New York Jets are reportedly close to an agreement with Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles to make him their head coach and should that happen you would have to wonder if former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau will quickly have a new home in the desert.
There have already been reports that Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians has talked to LeBeau about possibly joining his staff. LeBeau and Arians coached together in Pittsburgh together from 2004-11, and the 3-4 scheme run by the Hall of Famer is similar to the one that Bowles was running with the Cardinals.
LeBeau has close family ties to the Cincinnati area, however, and taking up residence in Arizona would certainly put a strain on that. This might be his last shot at being a defensive coordinator in the league, however, so he would have to weigh the pros and cons.
When LeBeau and the Steelers decided to part ways this past Saturday, LeBeau made it clear that he was resigning and not retiring. The Cardinals would be the obvious landing spot for him as not only does he have ties to Arians, Arizona also has several older and distinguished coaches already on their staff. One of those senior coaches is Tom Moore, who like Arians was once the offensive coordinator with the Steelers.
