The four active player captains for the 2015 Pro Bowl have now been announced and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is one of them.
Brown will be paired with Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt on one team, while Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden and Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray will serve as the captains for the other squad. These four captains will help determine rosters for Team Carter and Team Irvin during the Pro Bowl Draft on January 21.
This will be Brown’s third straight appearance in the annual NFL All-Star game and he will be joined in this year’s Pro Bowl by fellow Steelers players center Maurkice Pouncey, linebacker Lawrence Timmons and running back Le’Veon Bell. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was also voted to the Pro Bowl this year but he has since backed out of the game due to a minor issue with one of his knees.
In somewhat related news, Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders was added to the Pro Bowl roster Thursday as he will replace Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones, who is bypassing the game because of injury.
The 2015 Pro Bowl, presented by McDonald’s, will be televised live on ESPN at 8:00 PM ET from University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona, site of Super Bowl XLIX.
For the second consecutive season, the Pro Bowl will be “unconferenced.” This year Pro Football Hall of Famers Cris Carter and Michael Irvin will serve as alumni team captains for the two squads and have final say over draft decisions.
