The Pittsburgh Steelers added another player to their offseason roster Tuesday as safety Isaiah Lewis was signed to a reserve/futures contract.
Lewis was originally signed last May by the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State. St the 2014 NFL Combine he measured in at 5097 and weighed 211 pounds.
In 2013 Lewis was a first-team All-Big Ten selection after playing in 13 games and making 12 starts. He’s a physical, aggressive strong safety type and at his best when playing downhill and filling in the run defense. In 2013 he had 58 tackles and ranked tied for second on the team with 10 passes defended of which two he intercepted.
Lewis finished his college career with 227 tackles, 26 passes defensed and eight interceptions. His 158 interception return yards rank 10th in Michigan State history.
