Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger Finishes 2014 As Passing Coleader

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger missed pregame warm-ups Sunday night reportedly due to some sort of stomach illness, but he went on to complete 24-of-38 passes for 317 yards and two touchdowns in the 27-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

“No. 7 (Roethlisberger) battled the flu tonight but he was No. 7,” said Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin after the game. “We expected that. I’m sure they had some guys in similar situations. I remember reading that throughout the week. (It’s) just the nature of this time of year.”

Roethlisberger finished the 2014 regular season with 4,952 passing yards and that tied him with New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees for the season passing lead.

Roethlisberger, who was voted to his third Pro Bowl earlier in the week, threw 32 touchdown passes in 2014 while only being intercepted nine times all season.

Roethlisberger ends the 2014 season with 39,057 career passing yards and he currently sits in 16th place on the all-time leaders list.
