The Pittsburgh Steelers have now wrapped up their Thursday practice as they continue to prepare for their Sunday road game against the Cincinnati Bengals and the daily injury report includes some encouraging news.
For a second straight day, tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle), linebacker James Harrison (knee) and safety Troy Polamalu (illness, not injury related) failed to practice. Gilbert’s status for Sunday is really up in the air right now and Friday looks to be a key day for him.
Now for the encouraging news. Practicing fully on Thursday were tight end Heath Miller (not injury related), quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related), cornerback Cortez Allen (thumb), cornerback Brice McCain (hamstring), nose tackle Steve McLendon (shoulder), linebacker Ryan Shazier (ankle) and cornerback Ike Taylor (shoulder).
Things are looking good so far this week for McLendon, who has missed the last few games with a shoulder injury. Like Gilbert, however, Friday figures to be a key day for him.
The Steelers will practice again on Friday and travel to Cincinnati on Saturday. The team could decide to activate linebacker Jarvis Jones to the 53 man roster sometime Saturday if they believe he is ready to play again.
