The Pittsburgh Steelers will play the Cincinnati Bengals this coming Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium and their first official injury report of the week shows that several players missed practice Wednesday.
Tight end Heath Miller (not injury related, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (not injury related), tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle), linebacker James Harrison (knee) and safety Troy Polamalu (illness) all sat out Wednesday. By the sound of things, Gilbert is the only player on that list that might be in jeopardy of missing Sunday’s game.
After practice, Roethlisberger denied a Wednesday morning report that claimed he suffered a fractured right wrist early in the game this past Sunday.
Practicing fully Wednesday were nose tackle Steve McLendon (shoulder), cornerback Ike Taylor (shoulder), linebacker Ryan Shazier (ankle), cornerback Cortez Allen (thumb) and cornerback Brice McCain (hamstring).
The Steelers certainly could use McLendon and Shazier back in the starting lineup come Sunday and early reports suggest that might just happen. In addition, it sounds like McCain might not miss a game after suffering a mild hamstring injury this past Sunday while covering a punt.
