The Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to New Jersey this upcoming weekend to play the New York Jets and their Thursday injury report shows that a few key players are trending in the right direction.
Sitting out Thursday and already ruled out for Jets game were safety Troy Polamalu (knee), safety Shamarko Thomas (hamstring) and linebacker Ryan Shazier (ankle).
After not practicing Wednesday, linebacker Jason Worilds (abdomen) and safety Ross Ventrone (hamstring) were both able to work during Thursday’s practice. Worilds practiced fully while Ventrone was limited. Worilds is expected to be fine come Sunday, but Ventrone’s status for this weekend is still very much up in the air.
Cornerback Ike Taylor (forearm) is still practicing on a limited basis, but he’s not expected to play this Sunday against the Jets as he’s still waiting to be cleared by the doctors.
Tight end Heath Miller (not injury related), safety Mike Mitchell (not injury related), center Maurkice Pouncey (not injury related) and defensive end Cameron Heyward (not injury related) were all back practicing on Thursday after being given Wednesday off.
Defensive end Brett Keisel (not injury related) was given a second-straight day off Thursday, but will more than likely practice fully on Friday
