Below are the initial player snap counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday night win over the Houston Texans, according to the NFL official gamebook. We will see if any of these differ in our weekly game charting.
As far as the offense goes, rookie wide receiver Martavis Bryant played a total of 22 plays in his NFL debut. The fourth-round draft pick wasn’t just used exclusively inside the red zone and that’s encouraging. After Marcus Gilbert went down injured, Mike Adams saw his first action of the season on offense and that consisted of 46 uninspiring plays in total. Rookie running back Dri Archer only played three snaps in the game and on two of those plays he carried the football.
Defensively for the Steelers, rookies Stephon Tuitt and Daniel McCullers logged 24 and 9 snaps on respectively. McCullers, by my count, played six snaps in the first half. Outside linebackers Arthur Moats and James Harrison nearly played the same amount of snaps Monday night. Harrison ended with 35 while Moats was in for 31 plays.
