Steelers Injury Report: McLendon, Gilbert Still Unable To Practice Thursday

The Pittsburgh Steelers have now wrapped up their Thursday practice as they continue to prepare to play the Indianapolis Colts Sunday at Heinz Field and the daily injury report has just a few minor changes.

Not practicing Thursday were nose tackle Steve McLendon (shoulder) and tackle Marcus Gilbert (concussion). While it’s not looking like McLendon will play Sunday against the Colts, there’s still a chance that Gilbert could be cleared to play as he continues to work through the concussion he suffered Monday night. Friday will likely be a big day for him when it comes to determining his status for Sunday.

Limited again on Thursday were cornerback Ike Taylor (forearm) and safety Shamarko Thomas (hamstring). Taylor, who just resumed practicing again on Wednesday, has already been ruled out for Sunday. As for Thomas, it’s not looking like he’ll be back this week as he’s still unable to practice fully.

Practicing fully Thursday after being limited Wednesday was linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee). It’s still unclear as to whether or not Shazier will make it back this week from the knee injury that he suffered back in Week 3. He reportedly said Thursday that he’s close, however.

Safety Troy Polamalu (not injury related) and defensive end Brett Keisel (not injury related) were both held out once again Thursday. That’s not surprising being as the Steelers are working on a short week. Safety Mike Mitchell (not injury related) worked fully Thursday after being given Wednesday off.
