Report: Steelers DE Brett Keisel To Start Over Rookie DE Stephon Tuitt Monday Night

Earlier in the week it was reported that Pittsburgh Steelers rookie defensive end Stephon Tuitt would likely make his first career start Monday night against the Houston Texans, but according to the team’s PR man, Burt Lauten, that won’t be the case.

Lauten reports that veteran defensive end Brett Keisel, who is currently dealing with a minor knee injury that he suffered late in the game last Sunday, will start Monday night and that will be presumably opposite Cameron Heyward.

While Tuitt isn’t slated to start, he is expected to see a considerable amount of playing time against the Texans. The Steelers second-round draft pick has played 67 snaps in the Steelers first six games.

As expected, Lauten also passes along word that Cam Thomas will start at nose tackle Monday night with starter Steve McLendon sitting the game out with a right shoulder. Rookie Daniel McCullers, who is active for the first time this season, is expected to see some limited playing time Monday night at nose tackle.
