The Pittsburgh Steelers will be wearing a decal on their helmets throughout the 2014 season to honor former head coach Chuck Noll, who passed away June 13 at the age of 82, and they have now released an image of it.
“We wanted to do something,” said Steelers President Art Rooney II, “and after we talked about it internally that seemed to be the most appropriate thing we could do. The team will wear it the whole season.”
The decal features Noll’s initials, CHN, in gold on a black background and it will debut Sunday at Heinz Field in the regular season opener at Heinz Field against the Cleveland Browns.
The Steelers will also be making a special presentation on Sunday as well.
“We are going to be presenting a helmet to Chuck’s widow, Marianne and Chuck’s son, Chris. They will be on the field. I know the fans will enjoy sharing that moment with them and having a chance to cheer Chuck one more time at least.”
