The Pittsburgh Steelers have now named their team captains for the 2014 season and they include a few first-timers.
As expected, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is the offensive captain and it marks the sixth time that he’s had the honor bestowed on him.
On defense, safety Troy Polamalu will be a captain for the first time during his long career. Last season, safety Ryan Clark and defensive end Brett Keisel served as co-captains of the defense.
On special teams, third-year safety Robert Golden and kicker Shaun Suisham. Like Polamalu, it will be the first time that either have served a team in that capacity.
The Steelers will open their 2014 season this coming Sunday at Heinz Field against the Cleveland Browns.
