The Pittsburgh Steelers will play the winless Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday on the road and head coach Mike Tomlin ran down the injury report heading into that game during his Tuesday press conference.
Tomlin started off by saying that several players are currently in the facility dealing with various bumps and bruises but he chose not to identify who they were.
As for cornerback Ike Taylor (forearm), Tomlin said he is continuing to work himself back from surgery. Taylor will of course remain out for the next several weeks.
Tomlin is not optimistic about rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee) playing this week because of the sprained right knee that he suffered in the game against the Carolina Panthers.
“We’ll get him moving in some form or fashion at some point today and get an evaluation of his overall readiness,” said Tomlin. But I wouldn’t be too optimistic about his participation as we sit here today.”
With Shazier likely to be sidelined once again, Sean Spence is expected to make his second-career start Sunday against the Jaguars.
The Steelers Wednesday injury report should shed more light on the players with bumps and bruises and that includes guard Ramon Foster, who has missed the last two games with an ankle injury.
