Following a fourth quarter get-off on third down Sunday night against the Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Cameron Heyward gave defensive assistant Joey Porter an unforgettable chest bump as he came off of the field. It’s been nearly 48 hours since Porter was sent flying off of his feet, yet several Steelers players and coaches are still having fun with the former linebacker.
“That was pretty funny,” said Tomlin when asked if he saw Porter getting knocked to the ground by Heyward. “I think that Joey’s figuring out that his playing days are behind him. We won’t be signing Joey.”
During his Tuesday radio show on 93.7 The Fan, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger went out of his way to bring up the Sunday night folly.
“We got all over Joey Porter for it,” said Roethlisberger.
Roethlisberger also went as far as to say that the team started to give Porter the business on the flight home from the game.
“Joey said his knee gave out. It was truly one of the funniest things you’ve ever seen,” he said.
The national media didn’t miss it, either, as the clip below was also shown on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown during their weekly “C’mon Man!” segment.
