Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Chris Rainey has found another team willing to give him a chance as the former fifth-round draft pick was signed Tuesday by the Arizona Cardinals to their practice squad.
Rainey was released by the Indianapolis Colts at the end of July for violating team rules. It was later reported that the Florida product may have been released for horsing around with a fire extinguisher in the dorm where the Colts were staying during training camp.
Rainey was originally waived by the Steelers on January 10, 2013, after he was arrested on a battery charge at the conclusion of his rookie season.
During his one season in Pittsburgh, Rainey rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. He also caught 14 passes for another 60 yards and had 90 yards worth of return yardage on special teams.
