The Buccaneers lost starter Josh McCown to a thumb injury last Thursday night in their loss to the Atlanta Falcons and have now promoted Mike Kafka from their practice squad to serve as Glennon’s backup against the Steelers.
Glennon, who was drafted by the Buccaneers in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of North Carolina State, completed 17 of the 24 passes that he attempted Thursday night after relieving the injured McCown.
During his rookie season, Glennon was 247-of-416 passing for 2,608 yards with 19 touchdowns and 9 interceptions in the 13 games that he started. He was, however, sacked 40 times last season and lost four fumbles.
