Steelers Waive/Injured WR Danny Coale To Make Room For WR James Shaw

It was learned Tuesday that the Pittsburgh Steelers would be signing former Pittsburgh Power wide receiver James Shaw to the 90 man roster but there was no word as to which player was going to be waived to make room for him.

We now know who that player is.

According to steelers.com, the team waived/.injured wide receiver Danny Coale, who they had signed way back at the end of January.

Coale, a Virginia Tech product, was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys in 2012. Last season he spent time on the practice squads of the Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts.

Coale is also the son-in-law of former Steelers offensive lineman and color analyst for the team radio broadcasts Tunch Ilkin.

Coale reportedly suffered a displaced fracture finger that required surgery. He will likely revert back to the Steelers injured reserve list after clearing waivers.
