Pittsburgh Steelers right tackle Marcus Gilbert will more than likely be the next player to receive a contract extension prior to the start of the 2014 regular season.
According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the team is working on an extension for Gilbert, and it could be finalized as soon as this week.
A few weeks ago it was reported that Gilbert’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, had been in talks with the Steelers about getting an extension done, but at that time nothing was imminent.
Gilbert has started 34 games for the Steelers since being drafted in the second-round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Florida. He would be the second Steelers offensive lineman to receive an extension this offseason as center Maurkice Pouncey was inked to a long-term deal several weeks ago.
