Report: NFL Expected To Expand Practice Squads To 10 Players

According to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN on “Monday Night Countdown”, the NFL is expected to approve a plan next week that will allow teams to have as many as 10 players on their practice squad starting this season.

Currently, teams are allowed to carry 8 players on their practice squad and that number has been in place for several years now.

By my count, the Steelers currently have 46 players on their 90 man roster that are eligible for the practice squad this year. Several of those players, however, will be gone by next Tuesday as rosters will need to be trimmed down to 75 players.
