Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Isaac Redman announced Friday on Twitter that his NFL career is over after suffering a neck injury last season.
Redman said that after he was released by the Steelers early last season he flew out to California to get checked by the same doctor that operated on Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and that he was told that he suffered an injury to his spinal cord after two MRI’s and a cat scan were performed. Because of that injury, Redman said that he has had to turn down offers from other teams that have contacted him about potentially playing.
It’s only speculation, but Redman may have suffered the original injury during a hit by former Steelers linebacker Larry Foote during a mid-August practice. Redman also suffered another injury during the opening kickoff in the Week 2 game last season against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The former undrafted free agent played a total of seven snaps the next week against the Chicago Bears and was then released in October by the Steelers.
Redman ended his short statement by thanking everyone that supported throughout his career.
During his career with the Steelers, Redman rushed for 1,148 yards and five touchdowns on 282 regular season carries. He also caught 50 passes for another 408 yards and two scores.
