There certainly were not a lot of positive plays from the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-21 preseason loss Thursday night to the Philadelphia Eagles, but I have managed to carve out a few animated gifs for you to look at.
What’s so exciting about an incomplete pass from quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to wide receiver Marcus Wheaton in the second quarter, you ask? If you look closely, you will see rookie running back Dri Archer successfully identify the extra rusher and keep him away from Roethlisberger. It’s not a monumental block by any means, but at least the effort is there and it was effective.
Here are two different looks at the Roethlisberger touchdown pass to tight end Heath Miller. Once again, look at the pass protection by the running back. This time it is LeGarrette Blount that manages to give Roethlisberger time to step up and deliver a strike to Miller, who does a nice job of running away from the safety.
Wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey managed to get into the end zone Thursday night as he managed to run past a cover-3 look and hold onto a nice deep ball thrown by backup quarterback Bruce Gradkowski. Look at the separation at the end. It’s too bad we don’t have the all-22 look of this play to see what actually happened on the route.
Defensive end Ethan Hemer isn’t going to be around much longer so we might as well show him some love fr his fourth quarter sack. Yes, I’m grasping for straws here.
