If the Pittsburgh Pirates need a right-handed hitting shortstop that can take hits and extend plays, they need not look any further than Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Roethlisberger, who played shortstop back in high school, was able to get a few rips in Thursday prior to the Pirates game against the Chicago Cubs.
Abbey Way of 93.7 The Fan has some footage of the batting practice session and one of Roethlisberger’s cuts even made the top spot of ESPN’s SportsCenter Not Top 10 Plays as he almost took out Pirates pitching coach Ray Searage.
Roethlisberger will be back throwing footballs for the Steelers next week as the mandatory minicamp gets underway as I doubt the Pirates need him right now.
