Season 4, Episode 107 of The Terrible Podcast is up and with co-host David Todd now back in the co-host chair, we both go over the news and notes from the Pittsburgh Steelers first set of OTA practices of the 2014 season.
The Steelers have made a few roster moves this week, so we catch up on those transactions in addition to the draft picks that have been signed so far.
Safety Troy Polamalu, cornerback Ike Taylor and rookie running back Dri Archer were all absent from practice this week, so David and I go over the situation with each player. We discuss Archer being accused of blowing off the practices in order to attend the NFLPA Rookie Premier event out in Los Angeles. (Note: This discussion took place prior to being discovered that it was mandatory for Archer to attend the event. Here is an update on that.)
David and I discuss rookie linebacker Ryan Shazier running with the first-team defense right out of the chute and also talk about how there really aren’t many starting spots up for grabs this offseason. We also talk about how defensive end Cam Thomas is currently playing on the left side as opposed to the right and how that worries me.
Center Maurkice Pouncey is back practicing again and that discussion leads to us talking about tackles Mike Adams and Marcus Gilbert. Will Adams be able to turn things around with Mike Munchak now on board? Has Gilbert already reached his ceiling? We address both of those questions during this episode.
David and I also discuss the messed up finger on the right hand of wide receiver Markus Wheaton as well as the comments made by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger earlier this week concerning the Steelers draft.
As usual, a few more talking points are mixed in and discussed during the show that are not mentioned in this recap.
