According to a Friday night report by NFL Draft Diamonds, the Pittsburgh Steelers are scheduled to put Albany State linebacker Glen Stanley through a private workout on Saturday.
Stanley, an outside linebacker, reportedly measures in at just over 6’1″ and he has quite a back story and it includes him previously committing to Florida State in 2010. He never played for the Seminoles, however, as he was ruled academically ineligible. He then transferred to West Texas A&M for a season before stepping away from football for two years until resurfacing with Albany State.
In 2013, Stanley reportedly was forced to miss a number of games because of a high blood pressure. As a result, he finished the season with only 27 total tackles with 8.5 of those going for losses. He also managed to have 4.5 sacks and forced two fumbles while recovering three others.
It appears as though the Albany State Pro Day got canceled, so the Steelers are likely doing him a big favor by putting him through a private workout. It will be surprising if Stanley gets drafted, so the best thing he can hope for is to get signed as an undrafted free agent.
