On Thursday, the Miami Dolphins finally announced the hiring of a new head athletic trainer and it’s longtime Pittsburgh Steelers assistant athletic trainer Ryan Groves.
Groves, who has spent the last 18 seasons with the Steelers, will succeed Kevin O’Neill, who was fired after evidence surfaced in the Ted Wells’ investigative report that he knew of the bullying that had been going on in the Dolphins locker room.
An Indiana, Pennsylvania native, Grove is a member of the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society, the American College of Sports Medicine and National Athletic Trainers’ Association. Prior to working for the Steelers he was an athletic trainer at East Tennessee State University.
“I am excited to join the Miami Dolphins,” Grove said on Thursday. “The organization has a great history and storied tradition and this is a great opportunity for me. I look forward to working with Dennis Hickey, Coach Philbin, and our staff to help service our players.”
