Recently released Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley reportedly visited with the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday and according to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, the Tennessee Titans hope to bring him in Friday for the visit if still unsigned.
Woodley would be a natural fit with the Titans and he should be able to quickly pick up the defensive scheme being as Ray Horton is their new defensive coordinator. In addition, Woodley’s new linebacker coach would be Lou Spanos, who was a defensive assistant with the Steelers when the Michigan product was drafted.
The biggest fears that teams have with Woodley is of course his health and that’s the primary reason why the Steelers were forced to make him a post June 1 release just prior to the start of free agency. He’s missed 14 games and parts of others over the course of the last three seasons.
The Titans signed Steelers unrestricted free agent defensive lineman Al Woods on Wednesday, so Tennessee has a chance of becoming Pittsburgh South Central if Woodley ultimately lands there.
