According to Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer, the Carolina Panthers talked to Pittsburgh Steelers unrestricted free safety Ryan Clark this week, per a league source of his.
Clark, who also visited with the Washington Redskins this past week, didn’t seem too optimistic on Friday that he would be returning to the team that he played for several years ago.
As far as the Panthers go, they lost their starting free safety, Mike Mitchell, to the Steelers on Tuesday. They currently have roughly $8 million in salary cap space headed into Friday, so they must spend wisely moving forward
Person also reports that the Panthers had New Orleans Saints free agent safety Roman Harper in for a visit this week as well. He left town unsigned, however.
