On Monday, former Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones signed a three-year, $11.3 million contract with the Oakland Raiders, but apparently the Pittsburgh Steelers had interest in him.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Jones considered the Steelers, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks, but ultimately decided on signing with the Raiders, because, “He grew up wanting to play for the Raiders.”
This is the first time we’ve heard Jones’ name linked to the Steelers, but at this point it doesn’t matter.
With it looking like unrestricted free agent wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery might sign with the Carolina Panthers over the course of the next few days, the Steelers have scheduled a visit with former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Lance Moore.
