During his Saturday media session at the 2014 NFL Scouting Combine, North Carolina defensive end Kareem Martin said he had met with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Martin, who measured in at well over 6 foot, 5 inches at the combine, was a first team All-ACC selection last season after registering 78 tackles, 20.0 tackles for loss, 11.0 sacks, 14 quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. In 2012 he also started all 12 games at defensive end and earned second-team All-ACC honors from the league’s head coaches and the media.
Martin played well at the Senior Bowl as one of the best pass-rushing defensive ends, and he’s projected to go in the first three rounds of the 2014 NFL Draft. He should be attractive as a defensive end that runs either a 4-3 or 3-4 defense.
