Not that we really needed the confirmation, but ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter said Sunday morning on the pre game show that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin will not be the new University of Texas head coach now that Mack Brown has decided to step down
Late last week, Chip Brown, a writer for Orangebloods.com, reported that the Longhorns could have interest in Tomlin, along with several others, should the job come open.
Scott Brown of ESPN.com reported Sunday that he jokingly flashed the hook ‘em horns sign to Tomlin last Thursday in the lockerroom and that the head coach said he wasn’t going to give the reporter a story.
The Steelers will play the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday night and you can bet at some point during the broadcast that the Texas rumor will be discussed. Plain and simple, it’s not going to happen.
This might be a record for Brown’s in a post, however.
