According to several reports on Twitter, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick has been fined $7,875 for grabbing the facemask of Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell Sunday night on the first play from scrimmage. Kirkpatrick was flagged 15 yards on the play.
Kirkpatrick is the second player to be fined for actions in that game as Steelers rookie linebacker Terence Garvin was fined $25,000 by the league earlier in the week for his hit to the head and neck area on Bengals punter Kevin Huber. Garvin, however, will likely have his fine reduced to around $6,000 once he appeals that the amount exceeds 25% of his weekly pay as stated in the CBA.
As for Huber, he underwent surgery on Friday to repair a broken jaw suffered as a result of the hit by Garvin. He was placed on injured reserve earlier in the week, but expected to make a full recovery.
