The Pittsburgh Steelers waived safety Da’Mon Cromartie-Smith injured on Thursday and he is now on their injured reserve list after clearing waivers.
Cromartie-Smith, who was originally signed by the Steelers in 2010 as an undrafted free agent out of Texas-El Paso, suffered a hip flexor injury a few weeks ago in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Cromartie-Smith will stay on the Steelers injured reserve list until healthy and then released outright. He was replaced on the Steelers roster by veteran safety Will Allen, who had been released early last week by the Dallas Cowboys.
