The Minnesota Vikings are already over in London preparing to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday at Wembley Stadium and their first injury report of the week reveals a banged up secondary.
Not practicing on Wednesday were cornerback Chris Cook (groin), cornerback A.J. Jefferson (ankle), safety Jamarca Sanford (hamstring) and tight end Rhett Ellison (knee). Cook and Sanford are both starters and Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Tuesday the three defensive backs would be monitored each day to determine their availability.
“We’re probably going to have to hold them out to see if we can get them out there on Thursday,” said Frazier.
Starting quarterback Christian Ponder (rib) was limited Wednesday because of a rib injury and his status for Sunday’s game is still uncertain. There is some speculation that backup Matt Cassel will start regardless of Ponder’s availability. Also limited Wednesday were defensive tackle Kevin Williams (knee) and running back Matt Asiata (hamstring).
Practicing fully for the Vikings on Wednesday were linebacker Erin Henderson (heel) and long snapper Cullen Loeffler (neck), and both expected to play against the Steelers.
