The Pittsburgh Steelers Wednesday practice was pushed back but is now over and the first injury report of the week has now been released for the Sunday night game against the Chicago Bears.
Not practicing Wednesday was cornerback Cortez Allen (ankle) and that’s not a huge surprise. Allen injured his ankle in the season opener and was not able to play Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals as a result. While it’s still early in the week, Allen’s status for Sunday appears to be doubtful right now. The team promoted cornerback Isaiah Green from their practice squad on Tuesday and he would likely dress Sunday night if Allen is unable to play.
Tight end Heath Miller (knee) practiced fully Wednesday for the first time this year just as head coach Mike Tomlin said he would during his Tuesday press conference. As for Miller’s availability on Sunday, that is still uncertain.
Linebacker Jarvis Jones (heel) and running back Le’Veon Bell (foot) were both limited Wednesday. Jones suffered a bruised heel Monday night but is expected to play against the Bears. Bell, however, is not expected to play Sunday night as he is just now starting to ramp up his rehab.
Defensive end Brett Keisel (calf) did not practice Wednesday after suffering a strained calf Monday night.
Nose tackle Steve McLendon (hamstring) practiced fully and he is expected to be good to go by Sunday night.
